Unfortunately, I don't think there is any way to be 100% sure if replacing the canister solenoid will fix it or not, but it sounds like you're on the right track. There are 2 different parts related to this system - and usually, it's a gamble as to which part it is. You've already had the other part replaced (the purge valve solenoid), so there is a pretty good chance that replacing the canister solenoid will fix the issue... I would do it. This seems to be quite a common issue on the 2012+ Impalas...

But, like I said, no guarantees...

Unless someone else has a better recommendation (I'm NOT a mechanic)!

jt gave you the best recommendaton I believe. P0455 is difficult to handle without a scan tool. Without it, you will have to replace a part at a time. You already replaced gas tank cap, fuel vapor purge valve, and are going to replace canister vent valve. If this doesn't work, then you will have to examine fuel vapor line and the filler hose/tube for a hole.

An alternate path is to pay your mechanic to attach a scan tool to OBD port and activate purge valve/canister vent valve, and go from there.

 

Might have a look at what scannerdanner did to chase this down. Seems to be a common GM problem.

I replaced the canister valve solenoid and it seems to have fixed my issue with the vehicle. Thank you to everyone who tried to help me out!

Those parts are covered by/under the FEDERAL emission warranty!
No matter what the mileage and up to 8 years IIRC.

They replaced those gadgets in my 2013 Impala
and my 2007 Chevy truck at NO CHARGE!

 

I didn't screw myself. Chevrolet has an Expiration Mileage on their Emission warranty, which is 80,009 miles. my vehicle is currently at 96k miles.

 

Honestly, when mine fail, I'll probably just replace them myself as well. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. I'd rather avoid going to a dealer (the whole scheduling thing, missing work, etc). Not to mention this way, I have control over exactly what is done to my car. I've had dealerships screw up just as much stuff as they've fixed (while fixing things).

I avoid dealerships at all costs...

I have replaced the Purge Valve canister, the Purge Valve solenoid, and the gas cap. The P0455 code seems to come and go now with a "Tighten Gas Cap" readout. I thought I had fixed the problem when the code went away on the first engine start and stayed off for about a week. I'm not really sure what else I can do other than a smoke test to the EVAP system. If anyone has anymore suggestions, I'm open to them. Thank you all!

I agree. Smoke test is next step. You may want to crawl under and visually check hoses/pipes/connectors that fuel vapor touches. I used home made smoker that burns incense. My P0455 was on my other Ford. Sorry I cannot coach you on Impala.

Just wondering whose gas cap you bought?
Was it an aftermarket one (Dorman or the like) or genuine GM junk ?
A lot of the offshore stuff ain't all that great for quality control.
Just a thought.

 

I replaced the fuel cap with an ACDelco fuel cap.

 

I still haven't done a smoke test yet to my vehicle, but I would like to see if anyone can understand why something happens. So I clear the P0455 code on my vehicle and it stays off for days. The only time the code comes back on is after I remote start the vehicle. The remote start works fine. I drive the car to work and when I come outside to start it up again, the light is back on. Then that leaves the remote start ability to not work until the light is gone. I'd just like to see what others think about this. I believe this is odd because would the light not come on if the system sees there is a problem? Why does it wait until I remote start my vehicle to pop back up?

 

My po 455 code and others were FINALLY cleared by a visit to a different GM dealer (sharon chevy phoenix NY) dealer (and a few phone calls to GM) who LISTENED TO ME and hooked the car up to the Tech 2 machine !

This cured my codes and THEN my car passed the NY emissions test!
It DID cost me $65 bucks tho even tho I b*tched it SHOULD be covered under the EMISSION warranty as diagnosis work!

The original dealer (Burritt chevy Oswego NY) replaced a load of emission parts (free and under warranty)and wouldn't hook me up to the Tech 2 machine claiming it UN-necessary!
Yet my car STILL wouldn't pass the NY emission test.

After b*tching at GM several times they sent me a $100 service cert. for my hassle.

I have a 2006 chevy impala code p0455 I changed the evap purge canister valve solenoid and cleared the codes with my OBD scanner.. put 60miles on it and the code popped back up. I've changed the gas cap and all the hoses and good. But the code still shows any one have any experience with this.

 

May suspect the vent valve solenoid.

 

When all else fails.
Replace the FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR.
I found the Probe end, ... broken right off from ... the module.
The light went OFF and stayed OFF.

 

It was giving you the code p0455 for that?

 

Did you trouble-shoot the: Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor?
