2006 Impala won't move in drive or reverse

My 2006 Impala will not move when I put it in gear. It will shift into all gears, but when I accelerate the car revs and simply does not move.

The shifter cable looks fine, and I can push the car when I shift it into neutral.

The tranny fluid was just changed and is still red. Also, no check engine light.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have people telling me I need a complete transmission rebuild and I just don't want it to come to that. Or they said it could be the torque converter. How would I determine what the problem is without spending a bunch of money?

Unfortunately, you need to get the car to a trans shop to get an estimate (should be free). I have a feeling that you're going to need a full trans rebuild...

How many miles - just curious...

130,000 miles.

I bought it this year but when the tranny fluid was changed they told me it probably hadn't ever been.

Was the transmission power-flushed when you had the fluid changed?

I'm having the same problem with my 08 ss and I just had the tyranny rebuilt less than a year ago it can't be bad already right
