I'll try to keep this short. I want to get a Rosen in the near future but I just can't wait to improve the sound system and I have a set of subs, amp and 4gauge amp kit waiting around so in the mean time I wanted to buy this LOC.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/metra-t...etra-two-channel-line-output-converter/1265702.p?id=1218245470714&skuId=1265702

I watched some videos and I'm still just unclear what I do. Do I just get the diagram for the radio and military splice and tap into the + and - of the rear speakers coming directly out of the stock HU and then take the two ground From the loc and ground them to the back of the radio? Then what about a remote wire?? This loc only has the two sets of positives negatives and grounds.

Appreciate any advice.

Well sadly in the event that your system don't have a POWER turn on you would need to buy a LOC with the Amp turn on. With that it would be a Active unit not a Passive one. However if your system has a Amp in the trunk as most (Some do) you could always get the Right and Left Channel with both + and - from there and the Amp turn on. 2 reasons that is good. Less RCA that you would need and only wire from the front would be for the Power wire of the Sub Amp.

There are a lot of OPTIONS on how and what to use.

Well I'm pretty sure the factory fleet Impala limiteds don't have a stock amp for the speakers and definitely no sub haha. I'm even more confused now though haha. So I need this one with the remote turn on (blue wire) and run that to the amp? I'm still just curious I just attach the + and - wires of the loc to the + and - of the rear speaker wires at the Harnes or right before the get to the speaker ?

Ok, Sorry i wasn't trying to confuse you... Here are a few of the LOC that I have used out of the many out there... Also I am not 100% sure what the price would be and could be much higher then I have listed in your Area. In my area they wouldn't in most cases be more then the highest price listed.

NVX XFLOC2 (One I would use in most cases)
80W 2ch line out with Digital Noise Filter &
Line Driver. 6:1 Step Down with Adjustable Out
DC Amp Turn on Trigger

15-25USD

Axxess AX-ADCT4
4 Ch djustable LIne out with Trigger
15-20USD

Axxess AX-ADCT2
2 Ch Adjustable line out with Trigger
8-12USD

PAC LP7-2
LOC Pro 2 Ch line out with Trigger
18-25USD

To add an Amp to your car, You can still take the Speaker level output going to your Rear Speakers and connect the +R Speaker wire to the +R Input wire The -R wire would go to the -R Input wire. Then same for the LEFT +L to +L input -L to -L Input of the LOC. Then run RCA's from the LOC output to your AMP. With a LOC with amp turn on lead you can then have from the trigger wire off the LOC tell your Amp to turn on.

If you have Rear Deck Speaker you can get this from your speaker wires from the Rear. Then all you would need is to run your AMP power wire to the front of the car +12V battery connection, Then your ground for the AMP would be same gauge wire you used for your power wire to your Battery however it would be to a Good connection area near your Sub Amp. make sure you clean off any paint around the hole you will use for your ground and use a Star Washer to make sure you have a good Ground

Very important as well. make sure you have a FUSE within 12" from the battery as added protection. Don't think because your Sub amp has a Fuse or pair of fuses that you don't need this fuse next to the Battery. It is different need then the one that is connected to the amp...

Also thought I would add I am not 100% sure this is the Right pin out for the Limited. However if they are as listed then it should be for your car as well..

Battery RED/PURPLE (+) RADIO HARNESS
Ground BLACK (-) RADIO HARNESS
LR Speaker (+) GREEN
LR Speaker (-) GREEN/BLACK
RR Speaker (+) WHITE
RR Speaker (-) BLUE/BLACK
LF Speaker (+) BLUE
LF Speaker (-) BROWN/BLUE
RF Speaker (+) YELLOW
RF Speaker (-) YELLOW/BLACK
Amp Location RIGHT SIDE OF TRUNK
Steering Cntrls YES
Speed Cntrl NO
Radio Security YES

This was the Pin out on the Last 2014 that I worked on from my notes. I am not sure if it was Limited or not as I didn't put that in my NOTES..

Hey thank you so much I'm sorry I'm new to car audio but really want to learn!! I think I get what you are saying so I dont even have to pull head unit?? I can just pull the + and - by the rear speakers? Is this how I would install it? I attached a very crude cave drawing when I could finally get it to resize and upload!

That is what it looks like. I am not 100% sure what the Ground off the LOC is however if your asking about the R- and L- going to a Body ground then the answer would be no. You want to make sure that the Speaker ground of the RR (Right Rear)speaker would go to the LOC R- wire. Same for the Ground LR (Left Rear)speaker goes to the LOC L- wire. then the RR+ to the R+ on the LOC and the LR+ to the L+ on the LOC....

however in some LOC from many years ago there was some extra wires that could be grounded to help reduce Electronic Noise... in most LOC if the car is Wired right that shouldn't be an issue...

Also yes the rest of the diagram that you have looks how it should go. Make sure you use large enough Power wire for your AMP and remember that there is some distance from the battery to your Amp location so may need to make a bigger wire buy then you think... I always like to buy larger then needed for the ability to upgrade in the future...

Thanks for all your help James I don't know why I'm so confused but I get what you're saying now. Also another guy said he just ignores the two loc ground wires too. So when you say the rear speaker grounds you mean just the negatives right?... I just got these subs and a matching jbl amp (GTO601.1 II 580 watt) for free for helping a budy awhile back and I'm as anxious as a kid to get them going. I'm going to go buy the 4gauge amp kit and loc tonight and see what I can do tomorrow.

I posted another diagram I found too is this what I need to do but instead of the remote going to the radio I put it to the amp?

Finally I found out it is relatively difficult getting to the rear speakers so do you think I'm better off just doing the loc at the HU?

Once again thank you for your expertise!

It is little hard to say what is best to do when the car is not here.... With that said.. Here is something that I think would be best. IF you could look in your TRUNK for a AMP it would be located at the Right side. When you see this box it will look like a BCM with a few different color wiring plugs in most cases could be hidden.

The hard part of this for 2014 + cars is most times they are not like cars of the past where they have outputs from the radio. Most are using some complex data systems that a normal LOC wouldn't work on. Also should note that to get behind your radio is not as easy as removing a couple of Screws and pop off a few clips. It is time consuming and some of the parts that would need to be removed can be broken rather easy.

Here is some more info about the Wiring for the 2014 Impala... The + number for AMP in trunk would be for Pin 7 and 6 and the - 15 and 14 is after the color of the plug. Hope that made it clear what I mean for +7 -15........ If you don't get it I can write it different Just remember the + or - for amp is the PIN # of the wiring that should match like + Green would be +7 in green plug harness on the amp and so on...

Left Rear Speaker +green - green/black amp in trunk R side, green 16 pin plug, pins +7 -15
Right Rear Speaker +white - blue/black amp in trunk R side, green 16 pin plug, pins +6 - 14

Left Front Speaker +blue - brown/blue (Mid); +yel/blue - yel/gray (twt) amp in trunk R side, gry 8 pin plg, pins +3-7; grn 16 pin plg, pins +5-13
Right Front Speaker +yellow - yellow/blk (Mid); +brn/grn - pur/brn (twt) amp in trunk R side, gry 8 pin plg, pins +2-6; grn 16 pin plg, pins +4 -12

I don't have anything on either side of the trunk it is pure HU, it is the old body style 14' not the new with the moving screen and complex system. I can get the head unit out in less the a minute and also I have access to about 3 inches of speaker wire through the trunk so I'm just going to go for it I guess and tap into it and see what happens only think I'm still confused on is what do I do with the remote wire? There is one in the amp kit and one coming out of the LOC??

Ok not sure why you are confused. So here is what I did. I took your picture that you uploaded and changed it so the BLUE AMP wire from the head unit to the AMP was from the LOC to the AMP to try and better be clear...

Again not all LOC have a AMP turn on lead. If yours does then it could be used for turning on your AMP when the Radio sends signal to the LOC to convert to RCA out....

Also to confirm, I don't know what LOC your using however with your REMOTE turn on there should be in some cases a Red and Black wire that would normally be connected to your AMPs Power and GROUND connections. In this case there is no AMP turn on until the LOC notices there is a input from your head unit.

There could be a Second Ground WIRE but is most times a different color like Brown for adding to ground if there is no Level output to the RCA's pair.

So a LOC with a Remote turn on lead should have for a 2 Channel unit, 8 wires 7 at least besides the RCA's...

Should be something like this

Brown To ground only used if there is no sound from both RCA's out. If there is sound level out then don't use BROWN.
Red 12v+ Constant
Black Ground

White Speaker + Input
White/Black Speaker - Input
Grey Speaker + Input
Grey/Black Speaker - Input
Blue Amp Remote turn on to AMP.

Now your LOC could have different color input speaker leads but most should have a Install card says what color does what...

When the LOC have input from headunit it will then give power to the Blue wire to turn on your AMP
