Is this '15 the new or old (Limited) body style?

 

Great question I found out I have a 20 15 1/2. I have some features they were putting on the 16s such as push button start and so forth as were some 15 simply had a key.

Do you have a push button start then you got a 15 1/2 as a GM dealer would call it

You have the new model, considered the 9th generation.

I own a 2014 Impala 2LTZ. The vehicle owner’s manual had instructions on how to program an additional transmitter to match the car, if you have one (or two?) already programmed. This is for the intelligent key (not a metal key-start ignition).

Did you read your manual? Do you have the push-button start system, considered an intelligent key fob? Or, do you have the metal key-start system?

I don’t recall if you can program a new transmitter if you have the metal key-start ignition). A GM dealer should be able to program the new fobs in about 1/2 hour or less (it involves erasing the existing fobs from the system, then re programming all available fobs to match the car).

The intelligent key fob should have a double-sided cut emergency metal key in it to enable you to enter the car if the car battery is dead. You must pry off the LF door handle door-lock cover to access it with the emergency key.

 

I'd check the owner's manual, but as stated by C5, most likely with this model you'll have to go to the dealer. I believe you have a smart key with push-button start?

 

Hello there!! yes I do have the smart key with the push-button start with me, but the the start engine button its the only one that its not working at the moment, the rest of buttons working just fine. The previous owner told me to go to the dealer to program the key to have access to this feature but as I was asking before maybe I can do it myself? THANKS AGAIN

 

If I am reading/understanding this right the lock/unlock/trunk release work on all the fobs but the remote start button does not?
If this is the case then yes you will need to see a GM dealer to get the car programmed to enable this feature. This will also require the purchase of a remote start kit that will contain all the necessary components to activate the remote start including the unique activation code that will be needed to program the vehicles controlers to enable the remote start feature.
