Hey all,

Driving my 2015 LT and just hit around 130K miles getting a shudder when accelerating. Went to the mechanic who directed me to the transmission shop. They had me quoted for around $2,600 to replace the torque converter. Most of what I had read and looked at online seems like the work isn't that bad and the parts aren't bad either. Am I crazy or should that been around $1,500-$2,000? Just want to get an honest thought from anyone who works on cars or had this done on their Impala. Thanks.

I am not sure of the book time on these in particular but I will say having done fwd v6 torque converters they are not a walk in the park. I did one on a Taurus and I had to drop the whole cradle with engine and transmission then seperate them. Full day job by myself. Without a lift I would not do it again.
