That code is gonna be for your crankshaft position sensor which is located behind your harmonic balancer. There is a CAMSHAFT position sensor underneath the power steering pump. For some reason when looking up crankshaft position sensor on AutoZone and other sites it usually shows both those sensors, but your symptoms (which i have dealt with) is the crankshaft pos sensor under the harmonic balancer. Its the blue curved sensor with two bolt holes on either end. You will need to rent/buy a harmonic balancer puller at AutoZone for $20.

 

FWIW, on the 3.4, there is a 2nd crankshaft sensor on the firewall side of the block. It's hard to get at. The exhaust manifold makes it challenging.

But I don't think this matters. I believe the P0336 refers to the sensor behind the harmonic balancer.

Yes sorry about my bad info. But i think you are right, its still the harmonic balancer CPS we dealing with. I had same issue with having to disconnect battery for 10min between starts and that sensor fixed it.

 

WAIIIT!! Before you even start, make sure you take a good hard look at the crankshaft position sesnor connector wire. I had that problem just today and also long before my "no start" kerfuffle that has left me stranded without a car and no way to do my Uber and Lyft. It gave me that P0336 code and I did what you would do, replace the crankshaft position sensor behind the crank pulley. Still wouldn't start but however, I noticed my old crankshaft position sensor wires were stripped and exposed. So I kinda felt like I got a win/lose situation. Took my car to a lousy worthless mobile mechanic and he diagnose it as a fail fuel pump. It fixed it, but for only 2 months. Swapped for a Delphi brand fuel pump, NOPE! Took to another lousy mechanic who charged me alot for "dianosis" which all he really did was remove and replace parts that he assumes is at fault, still not the problem. He suggest I get a new fuel pump. BS, I did that and still not the fix. I took it to him again telling him my car wont start unless I spray starting fluid. It will start fine, but wont start fine when cold. So he "diagnosed" it again and said I need a new PCM and quote me $650 for labor and parts. F that S. So I took it to a professional shop and turns out it was the crankshaft position sensor circuit that was bad. OH MY GOD! How the hell could I miss it? But then again, its hidder above the oil filter. So they fixed it and whalla it works. So if I were you, I would definitely start looking at the crankshaft position sensor connector first and also the camshaft position sensor connector as well. That too can cause the same problem. VERY common problem for this car.
