I own a 2020 impala lt, bought in December last year. I haven't put many miles on it do to the pandemic going on as well as knee problem as well. Earlier this year i noticed a spot of green fluid in the garage about the size of a quarter. I made an appointment at the dealer. The next day got it back with the explanation it's a dye they use in the ac. They also said it was over filled at the factory, they adjusted it tested and said it was ok. Last week I noticed it again. Had anybody else had this happen, if so what was the outcome? I love this Impala andwant to care for it as much as I did for 2009 i had.

Fluorescent dye is sometimes added to the closed A/C system at the factory - which enables a technician to find any leaks, however small, using an ultra violet lamp.

If there was green A/C system dye on the ground or any of the A/C components - there is a leak. It is possible the system was overfilled with refrigerant and/or oil - but that would not leak out, unless there was a leak location and defect.

I believe your dealership technician did not perform the warranty repair work properly - and you were “blown off” by the service advisor and/or technician.

The A/C refrigerant system is closed - and should never leak, unless there is a problem or defect.

I would take the vehicle to another dealer. Good luck and let us know what you do.

I own a 2014 Impala 2LTZ, purchased new.
