ABOUT Impala SPID and RPO

I've been collecting details and posts from out on web for awhile, and digging when able, with respect to oem parts and paint and RPO's and SPID's. IMO there is a ton of misinformation out there. Some of which I used to assume was right.

For awile I accepted that both opposing claims on details could be right. Today? Both sides can't be right.

But I'm no smarter than anyone else so I'm posting for help in vetting SPID info.

I put everything onto my annotated SPID (below). That represents everything I've read and all my stumbling and research into parts for my own ride.

Please post thoughts. Agree. Disagree.

Let's Vet this.

Most common list of GM RPO Codes.
(there are other lists out there too but use this to catch most definitions then search-out Codes remaining undefined)

Its a picture of mine. I added titles for info fields where they are placed when populated. I added things that I believe I see after all the hunting and comparisons with others.

So all info below the BC/CC level is added in order for others to compare to theirs and help with vetting.

Here's one off the net. (edited for more)

It's LS but has RPO JM4 for an ABS Variant AND NO 1LT or LTZ code indicating those upgrade packages. So it's LS / taxi with ABS added.

So it's so far JL and JM codes for Impala that have known SPID's containing RPO codes indicating ABS. Groupings seem more real.

Cool, but ya wiped out all of the VIN so is this for your 1995 SS or your 2006 SS - gonna make me work huh!

I see the 1SS
and the FE3 suspension
and the KL9 4-wheel disc ABS
Ahh it's LS4 so gotta be your 2006 hot rod.
Silverstone Metallic. Bet it even looks fast!

Awesome. Thanks for helping me out :) I'll add it to my spids to completely decipher. Doing these is helping to define the last remaining RPO codes on mine (if only for general features) that are not on any of the lists I have dug out from under web rocks lol. I can compare other features that also shown on range model year for 1LT LTZ and even some 1SS and its kind of coming together.

Nah. Your rides are noted in your posts and the engine RPO tipped the scale. I'm thinking that in most cases the VIN is critical to actual model year. And most of the VIN characters are pretty much the same. The 10th character is the model year date code as you know, and the first 11 characters are not enough to specifically identify so omitting the last 6 is plenty good.

A couple of the RPO Lists out there contain code numbers for nearly everything maybe even all the way back to when they started. I stumbled across one list that is obviously a picture of a typewriter generated document only 1 page long. I'm looking forward to comparing it to the ACDelco and the GM lists I have. I realize it only provides a snapshot in time for how they once used RPO's and it might not be how they use them today. And plus it's likely most or all of the code numbers now are assigned to other items. I think if I work thru a couple dozen SPID's I might learn something handy. I've searched for some past record of someone doing the work and it's not coming up (because let's face it, it's boring) so gonna see what I find out. Along the way I might identify the un-defined codes on my sticker (I already noticed the few administrative codes).

I snapped this one off my 2011 Impala I got about a week ago.

It looks like the RPO code 1FL might mean I have a fleet vehicle. But I am unsure on what code is for the rear view mirror, though I did manage to find the OEM mirror on ebay that matches the connector plug i have in my car as this model does not have onstar so this mirror will not have the OS buttons.

[I thought I responded on this one my bad. I guess it wasn't decipherable due to wear so didn't have an opportunity to get into it]
