I'm scratching my head with this one, center high mount light works, but not the others. Park lights work, turn signals work, and hazards work intermittently. Fuses all check out. Wiring diagram would suggest something wrong with the turn signal switch, thoughts?

Well, I think I've traced the problem to the hazard switch. I know these going bad will cause turn signal problems, but I never thought this. But following the wiring diagram, its either that or the turn signal switch...

I replaced the hazard switch back in august with a dorman, and its still under warranty. So the boss actually had me buy the delco part, and warranty the dorman part so we'll have a spare. I think the ground feels cold today... I'll post here once I get it replaced.

As soon as I saw your topic tittle I was thinking about the hazard switch. Because the other day I had to remove my dash and just unplugged the hazard switch and I had to go in town so I just left my dash at home and figured out 3/4 of the way there that I had no turn signal and brake... :S you bet I was f*****g nervous when I saw the police hahaha

have an 03 Impala, no rear hazards, no brake lights, 3rd brake light works, parking & blinkers work all around, bulbs ok, fuses ok, sockets all look good, replaced the 4 way Hazard switch in the dash, have current on the brake pedel switch, and current on both sides of the multi switch harness. still no brake lights or hazards in the rear, what could be the problem, my car runs out of inspection tomorrow. UGH

Try checking for current at the contacts for the rear bulbs, just turn the hazards on and see if it pulses. That will at least give you a starting point.

02 impala rear break lights

Typical problem with this vehicles is rear brake lights failure along with rear hazard flasher. Rear third brake light woks. The problem appears to be the
failure of the hazard flasher switch in the dash. GM was aware of this problem
for a long time and change supplier so time ago. If you need one find them
at a you pull autoparts for about 5$ with warranty.

THANK YOU all so much for your posts. Thanks to you I was able to easily fix my problem which is exactly as you described with 2 of the three brake lights not working. I did not even know I had the problem until I was stopped by the police. I was scratching my head when the turn signals and trim lights worked fine until I read your posts. I used overnight shipping for the part ordered on Sunday, watched a YouTube video for how to change the hazard switch from the front on a Malibu, and was able to fix it in 10 minutes on Monday. THANK YOU. I can't Imagine how long it would have taken to figure this out without your posts!
