ZZP 13.6" Front Brake Kit on a Gen 8 Impala LTZ

The Reader’s Digest version …

From what I’ve read here on the forum, it looks like Gen 8 Impala owners who have upgraded their brakes have invariably chosen the Police Package route. Its cost-effectiveness and better performance certainly make that a good option, but I thought I’d try something a little different, so I did.
In fact, I think I may well be the first-ever Gen 8 owner to install the ZZPerformance W-body front brake kit on his or her Impala.

Having completed the installation on my car, I am happy to report that this kit will fit a Gen 8 Impala, and is very nearly a direct bolt-on. Not quite a simple parts swap, but close enough. At least, it fits my car. Obviously, 18” wheels are required for this. Also, I don’t know what the fitment would be like on cars with stock LTZ wheels, but there’s ample clearance for the calipers behind the spokes of my 18” BBS wheels.

As part of my brake project, I also installed a PowerStop Z23 rear pad and rotor kit. This kit contains rotors that match the new front rotors and more aggressive carbon-ceramic pads, as well as fresh slide pin boots and lubricant.

The long read …

A PDF copy of my illustrated project notes for those interested in a detailed presentation of exactly what was required to perform this upgrade are available HERE.

Cheers!

Nice!

BTW, I like your wheels. Which BBS wheels are those?
Thanks. Those are the SR style wheels. They are available in various diameters, offsets, and finishes, but the BBS part number for the 18" SR in this offset (+36mm) and finish is SR018-VGPK.

Thanks. The diameter of the OEM center caps was too large to fit these wheels. But I managed to find some good quality adhesive-backed plastic covers in the same 56mm diameter as the BBS center caps and stuck them on.

The BBS center caps looked fine, but BBS wheels tend to be thief magnets around here, and this car is often left in long-term parking at the airport when I travel, so I wanted to give the wheels a more OEM appearance. So far, so good. And I think the lug nuts that were included with the wheels also help. They require a proprietary socket that was also included. :)

Thanks, I think the covers add to the appearance too, and they're really inexpensive too. I bought 5 full sets, so I would have extras.
