When I worked at Lake Orion Assembly, we would get Hub Caps sent back to the plant stating the car had different hub caps on the right vs the left side, this was on either Bonneville's or Olds 88's.

Hmm, I'm jealous of your console trim. I think faux wood is kinda lame and wish manufacturers would stop using it. Real wood or bust, it really doesn't add that much cost in the grand scheme of vehicle prices these days. The SD card reader is a small bummer. I use ours sometimes, if it makes you feel better the reader can be painfully slow compared to scrolling through music on a smartphone.
I agree. Last car we had with real wood was and Oldsmobile Aurora and it was beautiful. I ordered some samples from one of those dash wood kit companies. Ugh..Stuff looks awful that matches our car. Only decent stuff was the two real wood samples but they were not the right color. I HATE how that clear stuff on the top is sticky (soft, not like glue sticky) and you can put your fingernail into it. I would expect it to be hard like factory trim but I guess then, you couldn't form it on curves. The pattern this company sent that represents the kit for our car put this shit on EVERYTHING including the two eyebrow like trims on the top of the dash. I did look inside a friends car, and discovered her Impala has the burl trim that matches our car. Her's is a 2015 LT w/gray interior.

when i got mine i noticed that all my trim is not whats pictured. after some research its done by color of interior, i have grayish painted trim. So on your car your door trim is wrong. unless the rest of the dash and doors match.. then entire car is wrong lol...

Kerr,
What year is your car/trim level and what color interior? In my car, all the trim (door switches and eyebrows over the dash and upper door panels) are the gray burl. The only thing that is mis-matched is the stuff around the console. I have seen several pictures of the Jet Black-Mohave interior and they all show the burl trim on the console as well.
Cheers,
John

The picture you posted is not of time lapse Radio, but time lapse XM which I believe all can do.

That's funny, we had a 2001 Aurora and I thought the real wood was a great touch. That was a fantastic car, wish we still had it. We had a CTS V and if I could get one back I'd be the Aurora...

Mine is a 2015, got it in December. this one is black on black LTZ 2? ever option they offer.. all the trim is ugly. its like gray painted crap... when i ask about it, ( other 15 was pearl white) they said that get the wood / marble trim because of tan..

so when i ask on here they confirmed it as well. Not a big deal, but it was annoying and had no "wow" factor so i wrapped in carbon fiber..

On a side note that chrome is still blinding me on the dash... its either getting wrapped, or painted, or something..

I'm bringing this up again because I just noticed something today....GM's cost cutting wing is at it again! All 2016s no matter which interior you choose, so I can tell, you get that hideous gray plastic center console. Now it shows it in the builder and I see it on cars for sale. Typical...

I finally got mine taken care of. One of our neighbors has a 2015 Impala and hers has the correct console trim that my car should have had. I took a picture of it, and the vin and sent it to my salesman. He ordered the pieces for her car and put them in mine. SOOOO much better looking than that ugly gray. Also got the SD card installed, that the sales brochure said my car should have and didn't. Bought it on ebay, pulled the old one out and the new one plugged right in. Can't believe all the "cost saving" changes the 2016 has suffered. Having second thoughts on my decision..:-(

Second thoughts? Because of an SD card reader?
You got your trim fixed so why the unhappiness?

On the Chevy site it still shows the 2016 having the wood like grey interior pieces on LT and above. The LS has the ugly grey pieces.

Here is a 2016 2LT for sale at the Chevy dealer by me and it has the grey wood like trim inside

I just did a 2016 Build and Price on an LTZ...wood trim, center console gray plastic like OP. Jet black/Mojave interior. Marble like wood with the center console in a different finish. Appears the other colors no longer offer wood, just gray plastic on the entire interior.

Strange. I go to the Chevrolet site and do a build and price and I see all of the trim levels and colors showing the grey wood like trim except the LS.
I actually don't see any cars online with the trim like the OP has.

Sounds more like a screw up somewhere rather than a cost cutting thing. Not all 2016 Impalas have the grey pieces like the OP has as can be seen in the dealer links I provided.

The pictures aren't great, but you can see the wood trim on the door, the gray near the shifter/cupholder:

Chevrolet Impala LTZ | eBay

Another: Chevrolet Impala LTZ | eBay

Again: Chevrolet Impala LTZ | eBay

Here: Chevrolet Impala LTZ | eBay

So, either product misplacement is rampant at assembly, or they removed the wood from at least that dark burl interior.

Yeah...None of those look like mine. Mine is gray burl looking. Reason I said that? Sure odd that I spend 40+ for a car, and have to argue about the features that it was advertised to have that Chevy just up and decides to stop putting on a car. Don't get me wrong, i love the car. It is the most expensive car I have ever owned and never thought I would spend that much for a Chevy, so that given I am not happy that I have had to fight to make it right. It's been a long time since I bought a brand new American car and had higher expectations of the experience. My last new car was a 2013 Kia Optima SXL, and there were no surprises with that one. That said, the car is big, comfortable, pretty quick and attractive. I'm not happy with the 20" wheels that I had to buy to get the adaptive cruise. They make a huge difference in the ride and quietness of the car. Why on earth would they make you spend 400.00 bucks on bigger wheels and tires to get adaptive cruise? That's just stupid..The 2015 Rental Impala we had was an LTZ, had the regular wheels and it rode so much quieter and smoother. The wheels are pretty, but I am more interested in the quiet ride rather than the look.
