Wire Hanging Below

There was an wire with ribbed black plastic housing hanging below my car near the front right tire. I tucked it back up multiple times, but I don’t what it’s for...any ideas?

It's probably the wire for the wheel speed sensor.

What year is your car?

Did you see the end of the wire? That is, was the cable disconnected? If so, I would expect you to have an ABS warning light, and maybe other warnings as well.

Might snap a pic of the wire and post it here. Would give a better idea of what you are talking about but like Doug posted first thing to come to mind around the wheel would be the wheel speed sensor.
