Wipers on the 03 impala stop in the upright position... ???

They work fine otherwise but don't stop in at the base in the horizontal postion... They stop vertically in the middle of the windshield.

Easy fix? Wife's car so it doesn't bother me that much...LOL.. but it would be nice to fix it for her

There is a tab under the wiper transmission that gets bent. The bending is often caused by the wipers trying to operate when they're frozen to the windshield. If you can straighten it out, that should fix it, but it can be a PITA getting the wiper arms off.

Here's a vid on the topic:

When you bend that tab up and are sure it is in the right place, you may want to puddle up some J-B Weld on it so it doesn't bend again - too many bends and it just breaks off. Of course you also want to make sure the wipers are free when they are on and the cowl is clear when they park, just explain to the wife that this can only be fixed cheap once and she will need to take proper care during the winter.

Another solution is to take the control module out and disable the park circuit. I don't have a schematic of the module so I can't tell you how yet but when I swap mine out (which doesn't park now) I will find out which part is bad and that will be what to remove. At least they are almost at the bottom when they stop, much better then being up while driving on a sunny day.
