i have as 1991 chevrolet caprice when i drive it on the street it works perfect but when i get to the fwy and hit more than 75 it starts overheating any ideas.

Change your hoses, that big old 305 is probably collasping the hoses if they are old, preventing good circulation.

Check air flow through the radiator, too, sometimes at higher speeds if there's dirt and junk in the radiator fins and if the rad's partially plugged up it'll get hot when there's more load on it (freeway speeds)

Hope this helps. Don't forget the basics, check the coolant level, hoses, etc.

Your cooling fan clutch (if original) could be worn out also....

At 75mph you don't need a fan, I'd bet the rad is plugged, take it out and bring to a radiator shop and have them rod it out.
