When changing the oil pan gasket on my 2008 Impala SS (5.3L V8), I found two items in the bottom of the oil pan. I'm not the original owner, so I'm not sure what engine work may have been done in the past. Has 145K miles. Still had what appeared to be the original oil pan gasket riveted on.

1. A piece of metal that looks like some kind of bearing, but doesn't match what any rod or crankshaft bearing should look like in the 5.3L LS4 engine. Measures 1/2" wide x 3-7/16" long. All four corners are chamfered.

2. Small piece of plastic broken off on one side. The only place I can think of with plastic would be the timing chain guide, but I've never torn one of these engines apart to be familiar with all the inner parts.

Thanks for any help!
