I know what a engine control module is. And then a good chance of having a transmission module but body control module? Thats a new one on me. I have a 2011 impala police car with a 3.9. It was in a bad accident before I got my hands on it. Some guy got it at a auction did some body work and then sold it to me. Having some eletrical issues. Ill get into that later. Right now trying to get a clue as to what the BCM does on my car.

Thanks

If it's determine that it needs to be replaced you can get one online from a part recycler. I use Nordstrom Automotive out of Garretson South Dakota. They're good people there. The assistant manager is married to my wife's cousin. I get aftermarket parts and use parts from them all the time with no issues and being that I'm local and not buying over the web I can get a 199 day warranty. I believe they offer a 90 day warranty on all items bought over the web. If you go to Mitchell DIY you can get a four-year subscription for $40 and that will have more than you'll need regarding information about all the different control modules troubleshooting repair anything to do with the vehicle.

It don't need to be done by a Dealer it can be done by others that have a Scan tool that can program a BCM. There are things that needs to be done to make sure it works for your car right. Some people say they can get one adn install and only do the Security relearn and all worked for them.. It could be that in some cases some things worked without reprogram. However there are things that should be done..

First thing to do, Is make sure the Battery is FULLY chanrged
Make sure that everything if anything was disconnected that it is re connected

Connect scan tool to the DLC
Turn on Ign Switch
Select Disgnostics and input all of the data when prompted
Select BCM
Select Special Functions
Input all data asked by scan tool
Select setup SDM P/N in BCM and do as directed
Select New VIN and Do as directed
Select Option Config do as directed
Secect Point of sale do as directed
Exit back to Special Functions
Once all that input is done above, now is a good time to do the ReLearn of the Theft Deterrent.
If the Scan tool says Unable to Program BCM Or BCM Secured then it needs to be replaced and teh steps above should be done again.

I am not sure where to get more current info. But out of curiosity I poked around on the web for a while. Mitchell claims to have current repair info for your 2011 Impala.

Auto Repair Online Manuals - Vehicle Year Selection - Mitchell 1 DIY

Prices start at 17 bucks. If it includes wiring diagrams, and covers all Impala variants (LS, LT, LTZ, 9C1, etc) I'd pay that for one car. OTOH, I've seen some DVDs that covered everything at GM over a 6 year span for the same money. So it's not a great bargain. But if it gets you over the hump on this project, it will be worth it.

You might contact them via their website and ask for more details first.

Doug

PS: If I would read more carefully, maybe I'd notice you had already tried Mitchell

Have you looked at alldata ? http://www.alldatadiy.com/?gclid=Cj...DBRC7t5zJs4uQu5UBEiQA7u5Ne235iqw5-GbxJoNuX2iq1JLxY0fjvXsMiAz9RsYQ8AoaAqLT8P8HAQ

Mitchell DIY has 2 types of wiring diagrams if I recollect. They have their simplified version and the original. Read up on the section that discusses the wiring diagrams first as Mitchell basically takes and simplifies the wiring system breakdown and does it by component system, ex.... bcm, ecm, srs, abs and so on for different vehicle systems.
