Help us out with some more info....why do you suspect the alternator/battery? Any DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code)?
Welcome!Hello everyone... I'm new on here.
My 2010 is doing same thing. Several thousand $$ later at a Chevy dealer and 2 small town shops...no clueCurrently have a 2009 chevy impala with a shutting off while driving issue I just changed the alternator but it continues to shut off and I placed a different used battery into it and last longer but I end up with he same result of it shutting off and I don't know why
About 4 years ago at 83k miles it did same to me and I had it towed to Chevy dealer. They charged me $4700 for transmission work. Seemed to fix the issue but now it does it all the time at 128k miles.Currently have a 2009 chevy impala with a shutting off while driving issue I just changed the alternator but it continues to shut off and I placed a different used battery into it and last longer but I end up with he same result of it shutting off and I don't know why
These are interesting points as my fans also come on whenever they want. Some days no fan at all and some days fan will work unless I turn fan to HIGH. Then no heat or ac.
- I'm not sure "only" goes with "220,000 miles"...that's rather a lot....
- Your engine shuts off when the fans kick-on or kick-off?...not clear from your post....
- Is the issue only related to your fans turning on-off (or off-on)? Does the issue happen any time with no relation to the fans?
- Still suggest you have the auto parts store check for DTC....it should be a free service.....
$4700? Did you mean $470? The first number is more than enough for a new tranny.....About 4 years ago at 83k miles it did same to me and I had it towed to Chevy dealer. They charged me $4700 for transmission work. Seemed to fix the issue but now it does it all the time at 128k miles.
