I have a 2002 Impala LS and the security message light comes on, then battery picture, then service engine soon message and they keep repeating, at the same time this happens, the air conditioning stops blowing cool air. When I turn the car off, my radio goes to locked and the trunk release pops open. When I go to restart the car, my automatic tracking is off and has to be turned back on. All this only happens when it is about 78 degrees or more outside. Never happens in the morning or when it is under 78 degrees. Sometimes the trunk pops when you open the passenger side door. After I turn the car off and key out my radio and air and lights stay on. Also my door locks will go crazy and click over and over.
JUST TALKED TO A FEW MECHANICS, HE SAID HE HAS SEEN THIS PROB ALOT AND CAN NEVER FIND THE PROBLEM, SAID IT REALLY SHOULD BE A GM RECALL AND BE PREPARED TO SPEND ALOT FINDING THE PROB. HE HAD A LIST OF COULD BE'S. THAT IS NOT HELPFUL!!!

Okay, try checkin out <http://www.alldatadiy.com/TSB/10/021019gn.html >

I used the 3.4L as being the engine in your Impala. But if, that is incorrect. You can just back it up and use the 3.8L. This lists an Un-necessary Engine Engine Light flushin that I've seen right off.

Good luck!
