impala? the grand am has 85k miles, the impala 75k and the malibu 78k. i'm trying to decide on my next family car and these are all around the same price but can't decide which one to get. your input would be helpful, and if you know of any common problems with these that would also help.

Don't buy the pontiac I had to replace the engine, transmission, alarm system, and not to mention an electrical fire from faulty wiring! All of which starting after I hit 100k miles.

The impala is a nice car, haven't heard of any problems. However on some of the newer models I know the radio volume increases with your speed. Weird but true!

Again I haven't heard of any problems with a malibu, and out of the 3 this would be my pick. Overall it's a great family car.

The radio volume increasing with speed is a new concept that GM is using to help keep the driver from having to adjust the volume of the radio from city driving to highway driving. It is strange if you are not use to it. It does not take long to get use to the feature though.

You can program the radio feature into your radio or leave it out. Up to you.

I have an '06 Impala LTZ and really like it a lot. You should go for the 2000 Impala...only if it was well maintained.
