Good morning everyone... I have a 2000 3.8 chevy impala with 126 thousand miles, I bought it second hand. What happens is that when changing gears from the gear lever (it is the norm, not the one that goes in the steering column) through P, R, N and D there is no problem, but when wanting to go down to 3 it starts with difficulty, almost without being able to reach 1, it only arrives by putting a lot of force and for the rest with noise like between plastic and leather. The marches themselves enter, but with difficulty and I am afraid of one day wanting to use them and they will present me with problems.

It is important to understand if the issue is with the linkage or with the transmission itself. The linkage would be a much easier and cheaper fix. I would start by checking the linkage....if that's the problem, then look for a used unit than works properly.
