I have 20" Forte F45s on my Impala.
They're wrapped in Falken 245/35/ZR20 tires.
I've put around 19,000 miles on these tires since October 2010, and now it's time for new front tires.
They wore down odd though.
The outside edges of my tires were chopped up the most. On both the inside and outside of the tire.
I'm just seeing if anybody has the same problem with aftermarket rims on their Impalas.
I think it's in the offset of my rims, but just checking to see if it's not just me.

I'm downgrading back to stock rims for a while I believe. Until I can put together a BIG chunk of change for 17" Texan Wire Wheel '84 rims, and Vogue tires.
I think it'll let my Impala ride MUCH nicer.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
OH and my car is ALIGNED! Had it done at the dealership not to long ago, and it was right on.

Pics? Sounds like somethings not aligned right.
Everything is aligned right (4 Wheel Alignment Wise). I'm thinking it somehow has to be in my cast and camber up front, maybe I need that adjusted.

I'll try and get some pictures up tomorrow, but I'm putting two new front tires on this thing tomorrow :/

I guess it's just the cost of riding on aftermarket crap.

Just because dealer says it was aligned properly does not make it so. I would have somebody check it.

Excessive tire wear on the out edges of the tire indicates the tire is under inflated.

Your outer edges are making too much contact with the road relative to the center of the tread. Probablly nothing wrong with the car, just with how much air stayed in the tires. THis would also explain the premature wear (19,000 miles)

He's also a LS model I think that came on 17's. We have a different suspension setup that comes with our 18's.
Wrong. I'm an LT Model.
Just fully debadged everything on my car.

I haven't lowered my car at all. And my tire pressure was good! I check it every few days in fact, just to always be sure.

Could be an error on the dealership's alignment, but who knows.
I just put two new front tires on, and I'm getting it aligned on Friday, again.

im no mechanic but it doesnt sound like an alignment issue. i would imagine that if it was the alignment, the wear would be heavier on one part of the tire, not inside and out. the only time ive heard that is under inflation. you could be right, im not saying youre wrong. im just saying i dont understand how a tire would wear excessively on the inside and outside unless it was under inflated

Agreed... Ive never heard of a bad alignment causing excessive tire wear on both outer edges at an even rate. COuld be wrong though.

Just because you checked the tire pressure and it was "full" doesnt mean your tires werent under inflated... What I mean by that is, you could be filling them to 35 PSI and considering that full, when they actually need more.

Just throwing suggestions out there... but it sounds like textbook underinflation. How were you checkin the pressure? Do you have TPS?

just to throw it out there, my fronts on my 2000 LS are worn more on the outside with some 'chopping' lookin grooves in it...but i drive my car kinda hard and hit turns pretty hard as well. so i know thats were mine are comin from. you squeal your tires much or at all?

Aligned! Being perfectly aligned is great. Dead nuts is just the ticket for racing!
Drag racing; that is!!! 13-hundred 20-feet. |----------------------------|. In a straight line!
But, ... you require alignment of those front wheels allowing for making left and right turns; frequently!
The front end needs different Toe adjustments according to
TOE ANGLE: ||||<---->|||| (Parallel-None). \\\\<---->//// (Negative • Toe Out). ////<---->\\\\ (Positive • Toe In).
If you're damaging tires prematurely, ... BOTH inside and outside edges ... you need to have the Tire Manufacturers recommended TOE applied or you'll ruin tires as quickly as you've done.
As mentioned by many who've responded to this thread. "Something ain't right!" You must be overlooking something! Something they might have failed to mention concerning 20 inch wheels, ... since its not exactly what you'd call, ... a selling point!
When you run 20's ... you got to be dialed in and conscientious about air pressure and rotation.
Get a pressure gauge that has a convenient pocket clip on it. Don't wait for a dash light telling you a tire's soft.
Check them.
Rotate your tires every 4,000 miles.
An ounce of prevention is worth a new set of cure.
