Yes.....but the car will handle poorly.

225's need to be on 6"-8" rims with 7" being optimal; the stock SS rims are 8.5".

The 225/50/17 tires are an inch smaller in diameter than the stock size tires.....so your speedometer will read incorrectly until you get your computer tune updated.

Also.....225/50/17's tires are more expensive than 255/50/17's.

So yeah; I'm like Heavy....why would you want to go to a smaller tire, unless they're free  ???

also during winter time , wide tires suck big time...
This is true. When I bought my 96 I drove it throughout the winter. The front tires worked as plows while the rears just spun on the snow and ice covered streets of Minnesota. After that, I bought a 500 buck winter beater and stored the Imp for the winter months.

Hell.....that's not so bad!

Should buff right out  !

Seriously, though......it's repairable. What's your insurance company got to say about this?

Also.....I see that your passenger side airbag deployed. Was he/she OK  ?

well i am on partially comprehensive...
and it was my fault...
so it's a done deal
i lost the car.....

plus i am in germany, working for aafes europe..
the guy who picked it up told me it would cost around 10000 euros to fix...
which equals approx. $16500 !!!!!

can you believe this??

i sold it to a guy for 1000 euros, he said he needs it for spare parts for his 9c1 and his impala.

as to your question about the passenger.
unfortunately she sufferred a whiplash. as you can see, the impact was on her side so she was more affected than me.
matter of fact, i AIN'T GOT HURT AT ALL!
i currently weigh 265 pounds and got a bull neck!!

funny thing is...
there where two other cars that got wrecked.
my car shifted the camper against the red house in the backround which messed up it's gutter.
and with it's front left, the camper rammed a car that was parked in front....
and this second car rammed a third one, which was a caravan...
i woulda busted out laughing if i had not lost mine...
and whats even funnier (in a way), the owner of the camper was inside sleepin !!
no shit!!
he told me he was going to go on a vacation trip, so he decided to sleep inside the camper to be able to leave earlier. poor ******* :))
