Hi everyone. I own two 96 Impala SS, On one of them I got trouble code p1870, eventually the tranny when out and now it feels like the torque converter is not even there, so I hope is just the converter. On the other SS I have trouble code p1860 which I reseted a few time, but it comes back as soon as i start the engine. Since the light comes on so soon, could it be a electrical problem with the solenoid? or could it assually be that the valve in the valve body is wore out?

From googling that code, it looks like you are going to be putting some money into your transmission. I guess the only question is whether you want to spend a few hundred to fix this specific problem or spend more for a whole new rebuild. For me, it would depend on what a trustworthy shop would recommend to me.

thank you jim. Thrustworthy shops are really hard to find here in VA, but I'll keep looking.
