my 2001 3.8L v6 impala had some starting problems where when you turned the key it would crank but wouldn't start, and you had to press the gas pedal to start it, but i took it to someone and he said this model has problems with the fuel injector pressure regulator, so i had this replaced and it seems to have fixed the problem, do you think this was the problem or shall i check something else?

That was most likely the problem, especially if it is working fine now. These FPR's go bad and do not hold the fuel pressure needed for startup. They can also start leaking gas back into the vacuum line attached to the intake.

This problem can also be a symptom of a bad check in the fuel pump allowing fuel to drain back into the tank but it sounds like your mechanic did the right thing.
