So sorry for this but I am at a TOTAL loss here.

A month ago, my car would just click. Just like a dead battery. Well got a jump and it didn't even take any juice from their vehicle. Just clicks. I ended up holding it to where it starts to turn over for 30 seconds and it fired up.


Got the car home, and put a used starter in it. Starts first crank again. Shortly after it said service charging system. Okay, thats odd? I ended up getting a used alternator and put it in. No change.

So I run the codes 0622 was the code for a terminal f. I replaced both the positive and negative terminals to no avail. I then went ahead and got a battery and put it in.

Guess what? No change. I am not happy, and battery volts are saying 12 or so. Same when I tested the alternator. The kicker is the car has 115K miles and the other alternator and battery said the same thing.

If anyone has a idea let me know. I am stuck on having a bad wire or cable but really I feel like I tried almost everything it could be.

Hi,

We're having the same issue with our 2012 Chevy Impala LT 3.6L. Did you ever find a solution to your issue? Not sure where to go with this one. Battery...NEW. Alternator...NEW. Car starts fine, but when in gear it shuts off immediately.

Not sure but I use an LED voltmeter and I will test the battery terminals with the engine off, usually that will light off slightly over 12v and maybe up to 13v depending on how well charged the battery is, however once the engine is running that voltmeter should definitely fire up more LED's, if you are struggling to see if it's charging then it's not charging...

There is absolutely no doubt about it, a non-charging system will light up 1-2 LED's on a 5-6 LED test light, a charging system will light up all or almost all of them (like 4 out of 5 at least).
Even on a fully charged battery you should see an increase in LED lights between charging and not.

So then...
On one Impala this problem was caused by a broken fusible link located on the heavy copper wire (red insulation) connecting the alternator with the battery’s positive terminal.
The link is enclosed within a black plastic case labeled “200”.
Verify this red colored wire is in good shape to eliminate this possible cause.
Where the red wire connects to the alternator, that spot is hot at all times, test it with a voltmeter.
If it isn't hot even with the engine off (especially with the engine off) then it is possible there is a break in said fusible link.
