Hi,

In my quest to remove my front bench seat I cracked off a few bolts. In another post I referenced drilling them out or getting them out in some way and that has been a royal pain. Since it looks like they are square nuts that the 5/16" - 18 bolts screw in to has anyone punched those out in the past and just replaced the nuts? I have not tried to, yet, but I can get those square nuts super-easy in my area and I would rather do that, spend the super-small amount of money that way vs. trying to drill everything out and most likely mess up the threads or widen them.

Anyone try this or can provide any insight?

Thanks in advance.

Lube the bolt/nut up with penetrating oil. Use a right hand thread drill bit and drill them out. If you do it properly you can just run a tap through there after to clean it up. The nut should stay in place.
