With the high level of concern about COVID-19, Consumer Reports has an article on the safe ways to sanitize your car without damaging the surfaces. I wont bother linking the article because it is behind a paid service firewall. However, the best product is 70% or higher rubbing alcohol. They also mention old fashioned soap and water as a less effective option, but the surfaces of most interiors are not as study as a counter-top or a table, so vigorous scrubbing is likely to harm your interior.

Obviously, if you make sure your hands are clean, then there is less chance of any virus transfer to surfaces of your car.

The article did not mention it, but viruses do not like humidity or heat. So if you live in a part of the country that is sunny and warm right now, your vehicle's interior temps are probably getting high enough to kill off most viruses, but still a good idea to clean your car on occasion......and wash your hands a lot.......AND STOP BUYING ALL THE DARNED TOILET PAPER.
