So I am having some issues getting my impala to go into reverse. I should just need to jack up the rear and loosen the linkage adjuster bolt for the shifting rod to trans, push the lever on trans all the way into park and then with the loosened shift rod manually put it into park and tighten it correct? Wanna get a couple of peoples opinions before I screw it up and cant even drive it period X_X

That would "reset" the position, yes. If you are able to choose the other gears without issue then its not likely the problem though.
