Hey all,

can i pound out the wheel studs on my 02 LS without damaging the bearing ?

Also, anyone know if i can get them out without removing the hub ?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Never tried it, but I wouldn't without removing the hub. I would take it out, brace around the stud, heat up around it, and pound it out.

Well....they don't come out unless you remove the hub, but it's not necessary to remove the axle nut. Tap the studs back, unbolt hub, remove old, install new. I fought with pulling the new ones in, they don't go easy. The easiest way I found , since I don't have an air gun, was to start them with the old lug nuts put on backwards, then put the wheel on and use a bar or long torque wrench to pull them in. I was afraid of screwing up the rim, but I didn't.

It may not be right, by at least I didn't break anything...:yikes:

Btw, the hubs are both new. The studs came out easy. A certain
Trans shop over tightened them. Comment witheld...
