I would like to install a remote start and alarm on my 02 Impala. My Impala does not already have an alarm of any kind, would I have any problems or difficulties installing this type or alarm system?

I was thinking the exact same thing but everywhere I look says I need it but doesn't say anything about not having a factory alarm. I guess I'll find out by trial and error...

On my 02 I had, I didnt have a factory alarm but I took it to a shop and had them install it and they will let you know everything you will need thats not included with the kit. I did not do it myself and thats just about the only thing I wont try because of the passlock system.

If your good at wiring go ahead and try it. If not take it in get it done right make sure they solder all connections and heat shrink them. Also if you have it done at a shop you do have a warranty and this is good cause of the by-pass stuff that will be required and if you smoke some wiring that could really cost you some money!!---ya you will need a by pass module and wiring harness. I had a remote starter and alarm installed on my 04 impala SS and lm a electronic engineer...l like the fact that if something goes wrong..just drive it in ..and someone else has to crawl on the ground and fix it and l have had to take it in a couple times cause the alarm would go off and my onstar would not work correctly...mind you l also had a aftermarket stero installed at the same time..

Probably already installed your remote, but here's my 2 cents. I had a lot of trouble with my passlock, ( 3 times in one month ) and was quoted almost $500 cdn for a replacement ignition cylinder. I went to a auto mods specialist, and just mentioned the passlock. He didn't even hesitate. Had a $40 gadget that connected directly to the BCM. $283 total, and 2 hours later, no more passlock issues, and a full remote system to boot.
