Really new here

Hey everyone, how are you all doing? I'm new here. I'm from Bahrain, and I have a 1996 Impala. It's totally stock. I call it "Crazy Taxi" 'cause it's yellow. Fortunately we don't have yellow cabs where I live so it's okay! Plus the color is original as it was a special order by a dealership here. That's all..

Hello and welcome to the forum. "Crazy Taxi" huh, interesting name. Any idea why the dealership had ordered it in that color?
Welcome!

Post some pictures.

I'd like to see that Crazy Taxi!

Thanks, I'll get some pics soon and post 'em.

Thanks. Well this dealership usually makes special orders on different cars. It had three special 1996 Impalas.. Yellow, red, and green. The red one happens to be my friend's dad's car, the green one is totaled. No idea why these specific colors.

Hey guys, sorry for the delay but I just got the car out of the shop after rebuilding the 4L60E and some other fixes. There's a difference between the US spec Impala and the Gulf spec ones (Bahrain) is that it's officially called Caprice SS here, notice the rear fender.

Mine, and my friend's red Impala which is my Impala's sister cause they were ordered together..

I know the quality of the pics is really poor but I don't have a camera right now, I'll make sure I get high resulotion ones as soon as I can.

Does the red one also have "Caprice SS" on its back fender as well? It is strange to see a Caprice with the Impala emblem on it.

You may want to try to get as many parts off of the green car as you can to have spare parts for your and your friends cars.
^^ All Impalas come as Caprice SS in Bahrain and other GCC countries. Plus it's not strange for me to see a Caprice with the Impala emblem 'cause they come from the factory this way until this moment. Here's an example of a 2005 Caprice SS (Comes with Gen III LS1).

Is this 2005 model still rear wheel drive also? Here in the US the Caprice line was dropped in 1996 along with the Impala's. And in the year 2000 the Impala line only was restarted as front wheel drive cars.
^^ yup they come RWD. The newer ones come with a L98 6.0 V8 (don't mistake it for the old L98 TPI hehe).
What is your fue prices over there? Yesterday here in Denison TX I paid $3.49 a gallon.

I say, probably around 125 HP difference between the two engines (my guess).

We deal with liters instead of gallons here. So by converting the currency it's about $2.65 for 10 liters I think. 10 liters is 2.64 gallons.

Almost, they make 362 HP.

If I am understanding you correctly then your paying about a $1.00 a gallon, if I understood you to say that you payed about $2.65 for 2.64 gallons. I wish our price for fuel was that cheap.
Here in the US it seems that those in control use anything to raise the fuel prices higher and higher.
^^ Right, I guess it's about $1.00 a gallon. Damn, now I feel really dumb!
