Hello. My 1958 impala convertible has this port behind the rear tires. I notice that some do not have any and some have two. Does anyone know what these ports signify?
Hello. The port is a dummy for nothing is attached to it. It has separate exhaust pipes. I am thinking that it has something to do with options that the car came with.
Now that you mention it, they may have been Exhaust Ports for show only. Not ever made to be functional. Not sure why you just have one. Someone may eliminated the other side for some reason through the years.
The '58 was a fancy year for decorative moldings, etc.
