Parking brake adjustment

Is there a way to adjust the parking brake without removing the rear disk brake assembly? It looks like the adjuster is like the old brake shoe type brakes and if there is a small window in the backing plate it might be adjustable just like the old drum brakes were. But that would be too easy I suppose.

The parking brake on my 2007 Impala LT went right to the floor. There was resistance from the spring but no ratcheting action. The wire cable was attached and moving with the brake pedal. Oddly, a few days later it returned to normal. Obviously something "fell back into place" but I'm not sure what happened.

This has just started with me on my 2013 LTZ, 110k miles. The resistance just eased off a few days ago and I know the parking brake isn't engaging. My driveway is a very slight incline and even though I engage the PB, once I take my foot off the regular brake pedal, it does that small lean til the transmission stops it.
Have looked through this thread, and I hope mine goes back to normal because I really don't feel like taking all that mess off.

Parking Brake Adjustment:

1) Raise and support the vehicle.

2) Check park brake levers on rear calipers. Levers should be against the stops on the caliper housing. If levers are not against stops, check for binding in rear brake cables and position levers against stops.

3) Tighten park brake cable at equalizer until either the left or right lever begins to move off stop.

4) Loosen adjustment at equalizer until the lever which has moved off the stop, as in step 5, is again resting fully against stops. Loosen tension at equalizer until the cables feel slightly loose to the touch. Cables should not sag under their own weight.

5) Operate park brake several times to check adjustment. A firm pedal feel should be obtained by depressing the pedal less than one full stroke.

6) Inspect left and right caliper levers. Both levers must be resting on stops after adjustment of parking brake.

7) Check the operation of the park brake.

To achieve optimal performance ensure cables are not over-tensioned at the equalizer.

So my wife has a 2014 Chevy impala LTC with the electronic emergency cable There’s been some thumping coming from the rear already replaced new rear shocks I’ve tested everything under the car everything is tight and then come to find out the emergency brake cable where it joins the left and the right will together. You can pull down on it, and let go. , and it thumps the bottom of the spare tire holder so I put a wire and pulled it down a smidge… had the wife drive the car and she never heard it again??? Hope this helps some one else
