Hey all, I'm new to owning an Impala...

I just bought an 02 Impala 3.4L with just about 80K miles on it.

When im driving at random times the temp gauge will go from around 160*F to all the way to the red, an i'll turn it off. Then an hour later its fine, then at another random point in driving it does the same thing. I just changed the plugs and wires because i had a missfire on cylinder # 1. Then the check engine light came back on an it says something about the map sensor.....What do you think is wrong?

Also, great site!!!!

Could be a clogged injector, bad intake gasket, vacuum line cracked and/or loose, low fuel pressure.

If the engine runs to lean it will overheat.

A vacuum leak will cause the map sensor to give inaccurate readings thus setting the code.

so are you saying that you are still getting the code after plugs and wires? what kind of plugs and wires did you put in?
