Hey Everyone,

As the title suggests, apparently I have a generous amount of oil in my air filter (not cabin air filter), and it appears to have been there for a while. The mechanic I took my car to was doing other work and discovered this by chance, so he didn't have time to look into this any further or research it any further.

I was wondering if anyone on here has seen this or experienced this before?

Sounds...expensive and shitty!

Thanks

Yep, would help to know more. Year and engine at least.

The 3.6 it is not uncommon to have oil blow back into the tube and end up on the air filter. Have read that catch cans do well at helping with this, but have no first hand experience as we have not had much more than maybe a teaspoon of oil in the tube at one point when I checked it.

Clean out the intake tube and put a new air filter in. Check it at next oil change and also check your oil level regularly. May not be anything that is mechanically wrong. Supposedly gm says some oil blowback is normal with these direct inject engines.

If it looks like a milk shake it is most likely blow back. My 2013 had the filter half submerged when I changed the air filter. My 2012 doesn't have the problem. Both 3.6 bought used with mileage around 110000. Catch can helped a lot on 2013.
