Looking into this to swap the head unit. Reading the faq's I see it is compatible with 2007 and up. Were there any major changes to the audio wiring harness between 2006 and 2007 other than bluetooth into the Onstar system? I would think not BUT for a $1000 I'd like to be sure. Thoughts?

I have read that there *are* differences between 2006 and 2007-2013. Not sure of the exact differences, but I would be very careful if you cannot return the device.

Hopefully someone else knows a little more.

decided to just ask Walt, the owner of ADCMobile and he was kind enough to copy me on an email chain of a customer with an '06 Impala SS that bought this product.

He lost the chime to the on/off of the automatic light system and use of his steering wheel controls, (and in March of 13 there was no expected fix, turns out the differences were in the CAN codes that talk to the ECU and radio since there was a motor change in '07) BUT other than volume and track change the hands-free wouldn't work anyhow with the radio Bluetooth. I am weighing the pros and cons ATM. Plus found the system on Amazon and Best Buy for $599 and $699 respectively. As far as the antennae, it comes with it's own GPS one that you can mount on something metal in the dash board (it has magnets)

Can you please post links to the Advent OGM-1 for $599 and $699? I've searched both Amazon and Best Buy and can't even find the OGM-1, let alone for that price! Typically, it retails for over $1000...

Thanks!

Actually, I found the unit on Best Buy - they have it listed as "Audiovox" instead of "Advent" (Audiovox is the parent company of Advent). Thanks for the info.

FYI - the $599 unit you saw on Amazon was probably the Simplesoft unit that I was originally going to get, which is not even close to the Advent. The Simplesoft unit lacks a lot of the features of the Advent and is nowhere near the quality of the Advent. Be careful not to get the SimpleSoft unit (no A2DP, etc) - in other words, it's a knock-off... No support either (they don't even have a phone number to call and don't reply to emails anymore).

Thanks for simple soft heads up. I am pretty close to deciding to go with the unit. Only because I've had a LS for 3 yrs and still haven't gotten use to sw controls anyhow lol.
Walt was kind enough to give pics, they also offer personalized splashes.

Yeah, like I said, of all of the "OEM-look" plug-and-play unit available, I truly believe that the Advent OGM-1 is the best of the bunch, with Rosen in second, OttoNavi third and all other Chinese 2-DIN units coming in last. I've heard nothing but great things about ADC Mobile as well. Really, $1025 isn't bad for a brand new one. Although the Best Buy refurbished one does come with a 3-year warranty for $699, so that's a pretty good deal too...

While I still have both the OttoNavi K-Series and the Rosen DS-GM1010-P11, I think that I'll probably eventually return the OttoNavi (assuming the replacement has the same problems as the original one I got), sell the Rosen and get the Advent... '

I must say though, this Rosen sure does have *excellent* sound, probably due to the built-in BBE technology (I used to use a BBE Sonic Maximizer in my home system and I *loved* it). I also have a feeling that the Rosen is the most powerful of the bunch (25 watt RMS vs. 15 watt RMS for the Advent). Both have 45 watt peak though... The OttoNavi claims 25 watt RMS/45 watt peak, but I've found that it wasn't as powerful as the Rosen....

They all have their pros and cons just like anything else though....

That pic is awesome!

Which unit is that in the picture and how do you go about getting the personalized splash on it?

Adcmobile.com has splash screens for purchase. Both pre-made or custom. Here is one I got from them. I since found a tool online that I can make my own. Can't remember the name of software off the top of my head. Logo-DIY or something like that. If interested PM me and I'll find it.
