07 Impala LS. Lower brake lights and rear turn signals do not work. I have replace the turn signal switch and relay up to no avail. Has anybody experienced similar problem and how did you solve it

1st off welcome to the forum

Silly question I know but does your cruise control still work ?

The brake pedal switch may have taken a crap.
Welcome to the forum. Can they do that pauly?
Only in panic stops ! ;)

If the other lights work, my guess would be a break somewhere in the wiring going to the back. May be something as simple as corrosion in a connection. If the front signals are still working, then it would be less likely to be a short. Find the plug for the rear lighting and check to be sure it is clean, then figure out which pins are which and check voltage there with signals on, with lights on(brake pedal held down). Should have +12 v. If no voltage then the problem is before that point, if you have voltage then the problem is after that point. Can check continuity between the lamp holders and the plug if you know the wiring color codes.
Yes the cruise control still works so I'm thinking the pedal switch is ok. Anything else?
Check the ground connection for the rear lights. Follow the black wire to where it's attached to the body. Make sure there's no corrosion under the screw.

Do your front and rear hazard flashers work?
op said both rear turn signals and lower brake lights did not work, assumed from the post that the other rear lights were working, in which case if the other rear lights were working, would be kinda doubtful that it was a ground issue. If none of the rear lights were working then yes a ground issue. If the fronts are working, then would also be doubtful that there would be a short.
Since BCM controls front turn signals, CHMSL, rear turn signals and brake lights, it would be helpful to know if the other exterior lights are working.

Missing grounds will drive you crazy with weird symptoms.:dunno: The parking/marker lights can feedback thru the brake/turn signal circuits to make it look like they're working. Look very close at the brake bulb to see if the brake filament is dimly glowing.

Maybe so. Checking the ground would be easy enough to do. More information from the original poster here on what is and is not working would definitely be helpful in helping him figure out his issue.

Did anybody ever figure out this issue? I’m having the same problem.
I’m having the same issue with an 06 monte. Anyone figure this out?
Needs electrical troubleshooting. I would check the following in sequential order:
  1. bulbs;
  2. fuses;
  3. ground connections;
  4. relays.
Ground connections are suspect when vehicles get older. Oxidation and corrosion can creep into the ground connection and increase resistance to the point where the electrical system in question no longer (or intermittently) functions.
