About to replace the upper shifter boot, (on it's way), on my 1967 Impala 4spd with console.
Before I start disassembling any more wondering will I have trouble getting the boot over the reverse lock out finger pulls?
Warm the boot, and wd-40?
Thanks,
Old feller

WD-40 is petroleum based and can damage rubber.

You could try silicone spray and/or silicone dielectric grease.

Thanks for the insight, but turns that the boot that came was not rubber, but vinyl I think. Wouldn't stretch, so disassembled shifter, now trying to get reverse lock out cable and all back together.
