Hello from Nebraska. I operate a funeral escort service in Omaha, Nebraska. Knowing how dangerous escorts can be in todays heavey traffic along with windows up and radios blaring and just plain lack of attention while talking on their mobile phones I wanted our drivers to be well protected when performing this dangerou s task. In the past Harley Servi Cars were used and then the Harley Police roadkings were used until the late seventies when a young police sargeant that was moon lighting as a driver was struck by a driver that came out of a side street when another person that was in the procession stopped and then gave the right away to this vehicle causing the escort that was approaching at a high rate of speed going to the next intersection and unable to stop to collide with this vehicle and end up sucumbing to his injuries a few days later. With this in mind after checking into different vehicles that would be quick when needed and offer the greatest protection to the driver I purchased a 1993 Chevrolet that was used by the Virginia Highway Patrol. After using it for a few weeks I decided that the Chevrolet Caprice was excellant for this type of work, I purchased three 1994 Caprices and put them in service. We did regular service work that was recommended and have used them ever since with great satisfaction. They are quick to respond with plenty of room for the driver and extra equiptment and with great comfort. I have one in particular that I use as a dailey driver and hardly a day goes by that I am asked if it was for sale. It has 150,000 miles on it and I would much rather drive it than any of the other luxory vehicles I own. I can see why General Motors is losing so much money when they quit producing these vehicles for Police use. I have nothing bad about the vehicles I have with very little repairs outside of the regular servicing.
