Just installed a new cat and it leaks at the connection to the resonater only at the top of the connection. anybody every use high temp permatex gasket sealer before ? i wonder of it would smell ?

Probably smell at first , but shouldn't last long :dunno:

They make that fiberglass/treated/metal infused wrap now that apparently works OK for this kind of thing. It will at least last till the products of combustion fill in the gap and seal it up. As Bones says it may smell for a bit. Cats get incredible hot, more heat than further down the system. I am pretty sure there is something out there you can use. I have also seen some flexible stainless with clamps on it that cinch it tight after wrapped. Might look into something like that too.

Permatex makes a muffler exhaust sealant it's kinda like rtv except meant for exhaust I used it on my truck and it worked pretty well

You replaced the whole downpipe or just welded in a new cat? If downpipe, did you replace gaskets?
