I have an 2009 impala LT with engine code K. It has about 103K miles. First this car has been a pain, while under the powertrain warranty i had both wheel hubs replaced and had the tranny rebuilt. Now i have a constant ABS and traction control light on. I had a friend at a dealer put the computer on it and found out that the front drivers side speed sensor shows bad. Well i did some research and tested the harness and sure enough one of the wires is bad showing no continuity. (the speed sensors should have been replaced with the wheel hubs as they come on them when you get the factory part?). Well before i had a chance to rewire the bad speed sensor harness, i am now getting something else. Now i will get a MIL and an engine power reduced message. I can pull over and turn the car off for a few minutes and it will go back to full power then usually it will drive long enough to reset the MIL, before it happens again. I plan to get to autozone and get the code checked when i have the time and the MIL is still on. Can the speed sensor cause this or should i go ahead and look at the TPS and APS?

Thanks

A damaged / worn speed sensor harness can cause the trouble you're having. GM has replacement harnesses available, as the front harnesses often become worn or damaged.

When the computer senses a defective ABS / wheel speed sensor (or its wiring) - it affects the traction and stability controls systems. As such, the computer reduces the power to the engine to avoid a situation that the computer can not compensate for. The computer can not determine if the wiring is bad or the sensor - just the location of the problem (such as RF wheel).

Replace the front harness that you have determined is bad. I think your problem will be solved. I do not think the speed sensor is bad - just the wiring that goes to it. Very common on the Impala.

Good luck.

update

I repaired the damages wiring, and now have a new issue. Before the traction control and abs lights stayed on. Now they are off and will come on when i turn and make that annoying chime. The MIL and engine power issues are gone. Now i just have the brief lights coming on when i turn sometimes they come on and off twice or three times while i am turning

Thanks
