Trans Swap

I am seriously going to have to start thinking about this. If you can get a some pics of it will help. Seems to me though that the 3spd had a longer tail shaft that the mount went to, and the transmission side cover was higher on the case than the 4spd. Your moving from a rods to the front for shifting to it all right under the trans tunnel. It can be done though. You can make some parts ( not hard ) or try to source them. The 65 409 came with a standard so parts are there. If you start moving the relationship of the trans/engine we need to look at the angle of the tailshaft and pinion also. Again, I am going to have to start thinking. I am sure Bill or some others will jump in also.

thats what is so weird about it, i measured and compared all of it before install, i still have all the 3 speed stuff, identical length and mounts in the same spot? i'm thinking maybe there is a different crossmember with some kind of notch or a taller mount for the tranny
