A few weeks ago I found my power steering and alternator pulleys were making a bit of noise. I tried to release the belt so I could replace it with a spare I had, incase it was stretched.

At that time I was unable to release the tensioner so I actually went the other way and tightened it lol... I knew it had to be replaced at some point and because of the temperature, it was today.

I tried to release the tensioner and instead of going back, it went horizontal. All said and done, I took a picture. It was my first time seeing a tensioner separate.

Pulley noise went away with the new belt and tensioner. Still surprised me to see it come off like it did.

They last longer than they used to, but not forever... Did that spring give you a bit of a scare?
