So i have fitted off the last bits n pieces to get it registered & had my roadworthy certificate test done & issued. I am off to vicroads tomorrow to get the car registered! I am soooooo excited, all the long hours the frustrating set backs, questioning of my sanity and skinned knuckles are finnaly about to pay off!

Here is a pic of it ready to got for rego tomorrow! Thanks all for your support & encouragement, it has helped keep me motorvated. But dont worry it wont end here..... you see i believe a car is never finished until its sold...... and i am hoping to have this car a long time yet! So there will be more updates comming soon and some more pictures soon too!

Cheers!

Hey mate...

How did you go with the rego?

Also did you use a lokka shifter?

Hey there

Well, got my rego & excusing a minor hicup or two been cruising as much as possible!

I lowered the back of the car a little as the front seems to have settled and it was looking a bit nose down for me. Probably lower the whole car a bit more in the comming weeks!

I fitted my seatbelts in the car so i can now take the whole family out. Cant wait to do that!

Looks good with the white walls. How hard is it driving the car with the wheel on the left side instead of the right?

I find it not too bad. The only thing i worry about is being too close to the centre of the road so i think i over compensate by driving very close to the Left side of the road or lane. Turning right from turning lanes is a bit hard to see sometimes.

On the flip side i got in my right hand drive daily the other day after running around in the impala heaps & cut the corner on a left hand turn & run the rear tyre over the gutter! ooooopps!

Next on the list of mods is to lower the car a bit more, get a wheel alignment & dyno tune the engine. After that its time install the rest of the audio equipment.....

Yep, used the Lokkar shifter, and am very happy with it. The thing is it doesnt have provision for a reverse light switch, so i had to make up a switch arrangement. Here are a couple of pics hope this helps!

I gave the car a good once over the other day, checked all the brakes, ran a spanner over all the suspension & body mounts, checked all the fluids and so on now that the car has done 500 Km.... all good!

While it was in the air i adjusted the ride height, much better now i think!

^ i left the hubcaps off.... waiting until it gets a wheel alignment.

I also took it to get run up on the dyno the other day.... just wanted to run it up, check the air / fuel mixtures are right, and everything is doing what it is suposed to. It was supprisingly close to right. The car made a massive 145kw or 194 hp, which for a stock rebuild with a very mild cam was about what i expected!

I am going to replace my cheap & nasty distributor with a good HEI unit.... we might even crack 200hp after that!

Over the last 40-45 years I have owned a good number of the 61-64 Impalas, everything from the 283/348 and the anchor 409. My dream machine would be a 81 Impala SS with the 409, of course I am dreaming and have not hit the lottery.

You have done a very nice clean job put that girl together. You can be proud of your work, looks great!!!!
