I haven't sent them back yet. I'm just going to send them back, play dumb and hope for the best... :) The core price for the police and non-police calipers is the same, so it's not like I'm cheating them or anything.... My guess is that they won't even notice the difference (and probably really don't care, to be honest).

But I'll find out soon enough and let you know. :)

I just realized that I originally put this info in the wrong thread, so I'll post it here as well...

I *finally* sent my non-police calipers back to RockAuto and I *did* get the core fee refunded back (even though I bought police calipers and returned non-police calipers). There was no complaint from RockAuto. However, I did screw up and send them back without the original AC-Delco boxes originally, which was a big mistake (they do tell you to make sure you use the original boxes, but I honestly thought they wanted you to use the original "outside" boxes when sending them back, just so they knew the box dimensions/weight so they could prepay the freight properly). So I then had to send the AC_Delco boxes back at my expense (~$20 to send 2 empty boxes back!!).

So make sure you return the old cores in the original AC-Delco boxes or you will NOT receive a core refund! They give you two weeks to send the original boxes back - if you don't, they will either throw away the core returns or return them to you at your expense. Lesson learned...

I sent my cores back to Rock auto in the boxes the new one's came in right away. Got the credit in a few days.

I've put over 8 thousand miles on the new brakes and I'm still very happy with the upgrade!!!

Well, I finally have my answer to the "Will the police brake setup help avoid rotor 'warpage'?"...

I installed high-quality police-spec rotors and calipers on my 2012 on 7/14/17 @ 55k miles. Now at about 63k miles, my rotors are starting to "warp" again already, even with the larger police-spec rotors.... So I got less than 10k miles before I ran into issues.

It's very minimal right now (really only have the steering-wheel shake under moderate to hard braking at highway speeds), but it's definitely starting... I was *so* hoping that the larger rotors would help avoid this situation, but that just doens't seem to be the case.

Here is a very interesting article on the subject that I did find - I'm going to try the "works about 80% of the time" solution ("indexing the rotor") mentioned in the article (basically, just remove the rotors and turning them about half way). I'm also going to invest in a runout dial indicator.

I do torque my wheels properly (with a torque wrench, in a star pattern), but I did have the front wheels balanced at a shop once, so who knows what they did. I have a feeling there is more to it than overtorqued lugnuts though (or being torqued in the wrong "pattern").

I'm so sick of dealing with this issue... I still feel that it's due to junk China-metal. I swear I didn't have anywhere near as many issues when rotors were made with better metal (they were significantly more expensive, but they lasted a lot longer!!). I have the exact same issue on my wifes Buick LaCrosse too (and if you read the above article, it sounds like I'm not alone and this has become a major issue for a LOT of people)...

I'm thinking of trying the 13.6" ZZP kit when it comes time for brakes on my DD. Has anybody tried this kit on a Gen8 Impala?

ZZP Brembo Front Brake Kit for W-Body

Sorry, I've been too lazy to read through this entire thread. :icon_sad:

I know it's an old thread but I thought I would pop in here and say thanks. I upgraded my 08 LaCrosse to the "super" brakes and this thread was able to confirm they fit the 17 inch wheels. I wish I would have stumbled on it sooner; it sure would have saved me a lot of research. I'm a fleet mechanic with a large municipality and work almost exclusivity on Tahoes and Impalas so I had some familiarity but confirming the numbers made it easier to pull the trigger.

Another thread here made me realize I needed a new spare to clear the new brakes since my car was originally equipped with the 16 inch steel wheels. I appreciate having a W body board with some guys that are willing to modify/upgrade and share the info. The Buick W body boards aren't really geared that way. Too busy looking for the early bird special I guess.
