Bottom front end of the car mid right side. Take a look under and you will see what I am talking about. Appreciate you looking to compare. Hope I am not missing any but those threads look nice and shiny.

I cannot check until tonight (my wife has the car at work). I'll check and re post.


EDIT: I checked my car. It looks the same as your picture. Perhaps the drilled holes are there for use on the assembly line to hold it or help install the engine / transmission assembly from below on the line.

Looks like the oil pan. Remember, this engine is used in multiple GM model cars. Could be there for some bracket required by another model.

almost certainly to assist in mounting. i changed out an engine in my garage once and my friend showed me all the fun things that go on with engines.
