Putting my engine for my wagon back together, when trying install the one piece rear main the seal seems to be the same inside diameter as the outside of the end of the crank. It keeps trying to roll the inner lip of the seal , Ive tried assembly lube on the seal to end up with same results. I dont want to put this thing back in the car and have a leakiy rear main. Any tips?

To be honest I don't think I ever changed a rear main on one of these. That said double lip seals usually are easier to manage if you can get it warm. Have you tried that?

Also make sure the end of the crank is smooth, if there is a lip, or any burrs or anything it could hold up the seal like that, and also damage it.
