Hello

Tino Anselmo here. New member and proud new owner of an 07' Impala SS 5.3 - Never had so much fun taking kids to school lol!

Anyway, bought car with 98k miles and knew I had to put some money into her...New plugs, wires...couple ignition coils. Flushed coolant, drop and changed trans fluid and filter....

Here I am 3 months later and Im having some issues. Dumping coolant into passenger side floor....was headed to autozone and overheated (did not ping but got hot) so went back home and popped hood and the coolant was bubbling - Not good! btw, it was dumping-spraying fluid into the car before this.

Car cooled down, starts right up and gets to normal temps - No white spoke ever came out of the exhaust so Im REALLY hoping its not the head gasket. No heat coming out of heater...

I did take off the radiator cap and noticed the coolant started bubbling = Im thinking bingo! some kind of coolant leak right? Radiator? I just dont know enough to figure this out.

Any help to a newbie would be awesome!

Thanks

Tino

Bad heater core, or a bad line going to or from the heater core.

I would guess heater core also. T-stat may have failed causing more pressure/heat to exaggerate the core problem. I would change both. Good luck.
Welcome! Looks like you may have it covered already! Lets get a pic or two!

Hello everyone

Thank you for the welcome and help!!! Im working on uploading some pics.

Update: It was the heater core indeed....$52 part and 7 hours later job done. Had to completely take dash apart! Thank goodness I don't have to drive my wife's Cube anymore! The crappy part of this fix is I was going to get the exhaust done either flow master or magna flow but gotta wait a bit as that fund is all used up now.

What do you guy have for exhaust? I like the rumble of Flow master however the straight flow chambers on magna flow are appealing in their own right

Thanks for coming back and letting us know, glad to hear you got it fixed.

Cannot say for the exhaust on your car, have the 3.6 in my 2012 with stock exhaust.
