I actually have several issues, but they could be related somehow. First off I have a 2004 Impala SS. I don't remember when this all started, but it's been a long time. My interior and exterior slightly flicker as I accelerate, doesn't do it when idling. Thought it may be alternator but I recently noticed my radio lights do not flicker at all. I do have aftermarket radio and 12V and ground is hardwired through factory wires I cut from the plug, not through ignition but constant 12V supply. I would think if it were alternator all lights would be affected. It has been doing this for a long time, I'm on my 2nd radio and 2nd battery so I know it can't be anything to do with that. Lights are strong at idle but as soon as I press accelerator, either in gear or park, lights slightly flicker.
Another problem I have had since I bought it about 1-1/2 years ago is it does not start right up. I can turn it over the first time and it will not start, but if I stop and turn it again, then it starts. Every time!! Did full tune up, new battery, replaced coil packs, replaced valve cover gaskets and intake gaskets. I don't do much night driving so never really noticed these problems until time changes and it's dark when on way home from work. I live in south so rarely sees cold temps here in Louisiana.

I'm thinking ground and/or the voltage regulator is bad in the alternator.
