Yes, Bruce, that's it. What year/eng. is your car? You can get a "chipped" key blank from ebay for ~$10. Take it and the original key to Ace Hardware, Lowe's or a local locksmith to have it cut. $0-$5. Then, follow programming instrs. above. On my '12, '13 and '16 you want to look for an encircled "+" on the "chipped" key blank shank.
Circle plus transponders go back to my 09 at least... Not sure if they used exactly the same transponder for all of the W-Body Circle Plus Impalas but the logo is the same.

I have AutoEnginuity GM extensions updated through 2015. I bought it for my 2000 GMT400 C2500 6.5L back in 2001 before the Chinese Tech 2 was a known quantity and I kept it current til 3 years ago. It claims it allows me to program FOBs and TPMS and a lot of other systems for the 2013 and later rigs that don't respond to my Tech 2.
